The story breaks away from standard cousin-marriage tropes, offering an intense narrative about a cruel university bet that destroys lives, only for fate to orchestrate a dramatic reunion years later.
The story revolves around Aimal, a simple, principled, and innocent girl, and Farhan, a wealthy, arrogant university student known for his playboy lifestyle. Farhan's behavior is rooted in a deep past trauma: years ago, he truly loved a girl named Aina, who ruthlessly used him for "time pass" before marrying her cousin. Broken and bitter, Farhan began treating women as disposable challenges. He makes a bet with his friends to woo and break Aimal, the most unapproachable girl in the university.
Tragedy strikes when Aimal’s father (Baba Jaan) suffers a severe heart attack. In his final, desperate moments at the hospital, wanting to secure his daughter's future, he convinces Farhan, whom he believes to be a decent boy Aimal knows, to marry her. A hasty Nikkah (Islamic marriage) is performed.
That night, a vulnerable and grieving Aimal accepts Farhan as her husband, and they consummate the marriage. Farhan gifts her his gold locket. However, overwhelmed by the reality of the commitment and his own unresolved demons, Farhan cowardly flees the country the very next morning without a word.
Aimal’s world collapses. Her father passes away, and soon after, she discovers she is pregnant. When she reveals her Nikkah to her grandmother (Nani Amma) and extended family, they accuse her of lying and bringing shame to the family, as she has no proof and Farhan is nowhere to be found.
They brutally kick her out of the house. Homeless and devastated, Aimal is rescued by her loyal friend, Nida, whose mother helps Aimal relocate to a peaceful village in the northern areas to teach at a school and rebuild her life.
Before leaving the city, Aimal manages to track down Farhan, who has returned from abroad. She finds him at his lavish engagement party to his glamorous fiancée, Shazmin. In front of his friends and elite guests, Aimal slaps him, publicly exposing and humiliating him, leaving him with the heavy guilt of his sins.
Five years pass. Aimal is living in Naran, raising their daughter, Zaini. Farhan's life has been miserable; his engagement with Shazmin falls apart because Aimal's memory haunts him and he cannot love anyone else. Desperate for redemption and peace, he leaves his luxurious life and wanders the northern areas, coincidentally ending up at Aimal's guesthouse.
When he discovers Zaini is his daughter, he is shattered by guilt and begs Aimal for forgiveness. Aimal, hardened by years of suffering, rejects him and asks him to leave. However, young Zaini becomes deeply attached to Farhan and falls severely ill in his absence.
Nida visits and urges Aimal to let go of her bitterness, reminding her that Farhan's repentance is genuine and that Zaini needs her father. For the sake of her daughter's health, Aimal reluctantly allows Farhan back into their lives, warning him that they will live as strangers under one roof and that this is merely a "compromise."
But Farhan, noticing that she still wears the locket he gave her on their wedding night and has secretly kept all the flowers and poetic cards he sent her, smiles to himself. He knows her coldness is a facade, and he is determined to slowly win back her heart and make her admit her enduring love for him.
